Leaving, on a jet plane...
Well, it hasn't been the best start to the trip. On Tuesday I was notified that my flight to Nadi had been changed and that it would now arrive in Nadi some 7 hours after my flight to Los Angeles was due to depart Nadi. One quick call to Air Pacific sorted that out, instead putting me on the Wednesday night flight, leaving me a day in Nadi to do as I pleased. The downside to this though, was that I now had three over right flights back to back. It could have been a very long day...
The flight to Nadi was ok. didn't get the sleep I was hoping for thanks to a slightly obnoxious Indian fijian, who was not only loud, had an anooying laugh, but also kept poking me in the ribs. Other than that, the three and a half hour flight was without issue.
When I reached Nadi airport I was in for a little surprise. It was absolute chaos. To start with, the immigrations line snaked well outside the cordoned area. It must have taken an hour to get through. At least my bag was coming through, which meant I could jump straight into the customs line, another rabble. Finally I was though. The airline had arranged a day use room for my time inl Fiji, but I had to wait a good 45mins at the service counter to collect my voucher, then wait for the transfer bus. In the end I would estimate it took almost as long to exit the airport as it did to fly from Brisbane to Nadi.
The day here is rainy and steamy, so I have decided to make full use of my day room. I have had breakfast, a sleep and lunch. I am going to head down to the pool shortly which will pretty much be my day spent!
